RAPHAELA GROMES & JULIAN RIEM

Ever since the cellist Raphaela Gromes and the pianist Julian Riem met more than ten years ago at the Richard Strauss Competition in Munich, they have been giving concerts as a duo with great success. They bring their program »Femmes« to Dresden, which was released as a recording in February 2023 and focuses on female composers from various epochs of music history. At the Sankt Afra State Music High School of Saxony and at the Palais im Großen Garten, they focus on the 19^th and 20^th centuries, with works by Nadia Boulanger, Henriëtte Bosmans, Elisabeth Kuyper, Clara Schumann and Pauline Viardot-García. A must-hear for (not only) those who have always wanted to discover more music by women.

JUNE 1 EXPERIENCE: CONCERT TRIP TO MEISSEN
1 PMDeparture for Meißen. The culinary and musical journey includes a visit to the Meißen Vintners’ Association (incl. wine tasting and snacks), a guided tour of the State Porcelain Manufacture as well as a dinner at the traditional restaurant Vincenz Richter (self-paid). Before the walk to the concert in Sankt Afra, the group will listen to the porcelain glockenspiel of the Frauenkirche. Return journey after the end of the concert.
