Alexander Janiczek
Alexander Janiczekearly musical life began in Salzburg, born into a musical family of Polish and Czech descent. He studied with Helmuth Zehetmair, Max Rostal, Nathan Milstein, Ruggiero Ricci and Dorothy DeLay. International attention first came to be focussed on Janiczek when his legendary teacher, Sándor Végh appointed him concertmaster of his Camerata Salzburg. Since then, Janiczek has gone on to appear as a guest director with all of the notable chamber orchestras in Europe. With the Chamber Orchestra of Europe he toured extensively throughout Europe and the Far East. Alexander Janiczek appeared with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra as concertmaster as well as soloist and was appointed Associate Artist of the SCO in 2011. As a recording artist, his catalogue with the SCO is distinguished, directing them in a highly respected series of Mozart and Weber recordings. He enjoyed a close collaboration with with Sir Roger Norrington and the Camerata Salzburg as well as with Robert Levin, and Philippe Herreweghe. His own ensemble made its debut at the Herrenchiemsee Festspiele in 2013. Alexander Janiczek is a Professor of Violin at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. He plays a violin by Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù, Cremona 1731, which is on loan to him from the National Bank of Austria.
