MARTYNAS LEVICKIS & IVETA APKALNA

At the impressive Church of St Mary in Pirna, built in the early 16th century and one of the largest hall churches of the late Gothic era in Saxony, the organist Iveta Apkalna from Latvia and the accordionist Martynas Levickis from Lithuania meet for an extraordinary encounter between artists: Apkalna, one of the world’s leading soloists on her instrument, and Levickis, who made the leap onto the world’s great stages with his accordion in his early twenties, will unfurl a very special soundscape, performing unusual arrangements of works by Boëllmann, Vivaldi and others. Two exceptional performers conjoin their related, yet very different instruments in a duo.
