HOPE — VOGLER — DEUTSCHES SYMPHONIE-ORCHESTER BERLIN — RAKITINA

Two outstanding musicians meet for a unique concert evening: the violinist and artistic director of the Frauenkirche, Daniel Hope, and Jan Vogler, cellist and intendant of the Musikfestspiele. They will be accompanied by the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester (DSO) Berlin under the baton of Anna Rakitina, born in Moscow in 1989, one of the most fascinating conductors of the younger generation today. The first part of the concert is dedicated to famous film scores and their composers. The centrepiece is the highly romantic Sinfonia concertante for violin and cello by Miklós Rózsa, renowned for his scores for cinematic classics such as »Quo vadis?« and »El Cid«. Written at the same time as the score for »Ben Hur«, the work breathes the same epic spirit and is rich in musical allusions to his Hungarian homeland. In the second part of the concert, the orchestra and conductor dedicate themselves to Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5, a work at home in concert halls throughout the world.
