PIANO RECITAL SEONG-JIN CHO

Seong-Jin Cho

With his success at the Chopin Competition in 2015, Seong-Jin Cho from South Korea joined the ranks of great artists on the piano scene. Now a resident of Berlin, the pianist, who first began playing his instrument at the age of six and first played in public at eleven, was voted the most popular pianist in the world in an online poll by the Universal Music Group. In his homeland, he enjoys almost pop star fame. That, however, fails to impress Seong-Jin Cho, whose multi-faceted, brilliant playing is free of affectation. For his solo recital in Dresden, he has chosen Ravel’s »Gaspard de la nuit«, one of the essential piano works of the 20th century, plus two less well-known pieces by the French Impressionist. Music from the second volume of Liszt’s »Années de pèlerinage« rounds out this special evening of piano music in the beautiful atmosphere of the Palais im Großen Garten.
