HÉLÈNE GRIMAUD & CAMERATA SALZBURG

Camerata Salzburg
Hélène Grimaud

With Hélène Grimaud and the Camerata Salzburg, the Musikfestspiele welcome back favourite guests who are sure to win even more enthusiastic followers with their 2024 appearance. After Beethoven’s »Coriolan« Overture, two popular romantic works grace the program: Schumann’s Opus 54 in A minor is considered the romantic piano concerto par excellence; despite its orchestral dynamic, it is distinguished by a transparency reminiscent of chamber music – a signature piece for the French pianist, who is celebrated for her virtuosity and sensitivity alike. This is followed by a youthful work by Mendelssohn, his Symphony No. 1 in C minor, which the 15-year-old dedicated to his beloved sister Fanny for her birthday. The composition impresses with its technical challenges and musically attractive character, in which the composer’s youthful exuberance frequently shines through.
