CHILDREN’S CONCERT

»THE BRASS WORKERS«

Since 1993, the five Austrian members of Sonus Brass have been running a campaign to leave concert clichés behind – with trumpet, horn, trombone and tuba, and a generous helping of wit and emotion! The ensemble has made a name for itself mainly for its successful and award-winning music education concerts – including »Die Blecharbeiter« (The Brass Workers). In this moving piece for children, five men meet by coincidence. All of them have just lost their jobs and are worried about their future. Out of boredom, they poke around a heap of junk metal. To everyone’s surprise, what seemed like junk suddenly makes sounds, rattling and clanging. The first sounds are coaxed from these »old pipes«, and the five realize that each of their finds has a sound of its own. And then it happens: suddenly they are all playing together – and »The Brass Workers« are born!
