CHARLY HÜBNER & ENSEMBLE RESONANZ

The actor Charly Hübner and Ensemble Resonanz, plus a jazz trio consisting of Kalle Kalima, Carlos Bica and Max Andrzejewski, cause the world of Schubert‘s »Winterreise« to meet songs by the Australian poet and singer Nick Cave. The ghosts raised by this séance speak of unrequited love. Of pain. Of guilt. Of failure. Of loneliness. Of total failure and death. No place, nowhere. Or: All beauty must die … In Tobias Schwencke’s arrangements, two musical worlds are superimposed, starting to dance with each other and finally merging in a new, confusing whole. Hübner makes Schubert’s and Cave’s songs resound with unpolished directness, telling a story of longing, desperation and consolation.
