Wojciech Garbowski

Wojciech Garbowski’s goal is passion whenever he makes music, whether as a soloist or in chamber music. Early on, he decided to play new music regularly. He loves Bach, Schubert, Schumann and many other composers – and finds that he can play their works more intensively when he can work on new compositions and improvisation at the same time. He is uninterested in average interpretations; he wants to feel that his partners are equally eager to find a strong expression together, are equally courageous and willing to leave their comfort zones. As a soloist and concertmaster, he has worked for many years with the Heidelberg Symphonic Orchestra. He performs recitals with works by Bach, Paganini, Kurtág and Ysayë. Performative music-making has interested the violinist increasingly since 2008, including the connection between body and instrument. He performs at numerous large and small festivals in Europe and teaches chamber music courses regularly. His performances have frequently been recorded for radio. Today Wojciech Garbowski’s main focus is on quartet playing with the Sonar Quartet.
