Michael Hanko

Michael Hanko studied with Tibor Varga, Prof. Jörg-Wolfgang Jahn, Josef Rissin and Yuri Bashmet, participating in chamber music courses with members of the Quartetto Italiano and the Borodin Quartet. He was and remains principal violist in various orchestras, such as the Bach-Collegium Stuttgart, the Orchestra of the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele, the Bolzano String Academy, the Chamber Philharmonic Karlsruhe, and since 1999 Capella Andrea Barca. Furthermore he works with various chamber music ensembles such as the Bartholdy Quartet, the Modigliani Quartet and as a guest musician with the Buchberger Quartet and the Trio Parnassus. Michael Hanko also teaches master courses, instrumental, chamber music and chamber orchestra seminars, at »Jugend musiziert« and »Jeunesse Musicale«. Since 1990 he has taught at the Conservatory of Baden in Karlsruhe. Concert tours have taken him all over Europe, to America, India and Africa. Television and CD recordings as well as radio productions as a soloist and member of various chamber ensembles document his musical output.
