Jürgen Groß

Jürgen Groß was born in 1969 and studied violin and musical pedagogy with Isabella Petrosjan and chamber music with Gerhard Darmstadt in his hometown of Hamburg. His intense exploration of baroque violin led to further studies with Thomas Albert at the Bremen Music Academy and later to the Institute of Early Music in Trossingen, where Anton Steck was his teacher. Courses with Monica Huggett, Werner Ehrhardt and Hiro Kurosaki rounded out his education. Jürgen Groß has been a violinist in various ensembles – including the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, the Flemish baroque orchestra B’ROCK and the Spanish ensemble Al Ayre Español. In 1999 he founded the Elbipolis Baroque Orchestra Hamburg, which he has joined on international concert tours in recent years. Since 2009 Jürgen Groß has also worked as a coach and concertmaster for baroque and classical projects, for example the Orchestra Academy of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival or at the Nürnberg Music Academy.
