Angelika Engel

Angelika Engel attended the Music School in her native town of Görlitz and continued her studies at the Dresden Special Music School. She then became a student at the Music Academy Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden and the Music Academy Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in Leipzig, playing as a substitute in the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig. In 1986 she became a violist in the North German Philharmonic Rostock (known at the time as the Rostock Philharmonic Orchestra), where she has been assistant principal violist since 1988. Ever since her student days she has had an interest in Early Music and contemporary compositions and has played in many different chamber music ensembles.
