»JEDERMANN RELOADED«

PHILIPP HOCHMAIR & DIE ELEKTROHAND GOTTES

In the one-man show »Jedermann Reloaded«, Philipp Hochmair, currently playing Jedermann in Hofmannsthal’s classic at the Salzburg Festival, and also the frontman of the band Die Elektrohand Gottes, which was founded in Dresden, takes on a total of twenty roles. To accomplish this feat, the Austrian actor requires only two microphones – one for his own role, in the stricter sense, and one for the other characters in his monologue. Hochmair’s Everyman is a rock star. Driven by guitar riffs and experimental sounds of his band, the versatile actor transforms Hugo von Hofmannsthal’s 100-year-old mystery play into an apocalyptic spoken concert. Philipp Hochmair began his celebrated »Jedermann« experiment in 2013 and has been developing the internationally acclaimed performance as a work in progress ever since. It is often performed as an open-air event, so the impressive courtyard of the Albrechtsburg in Meißen will not be an outlier as a venue for one of the Dresdner Musikfestspiele’s last offerings of the season.
