MAGIC ON BLACK AND WHITE KEYBOARDS

PIANO RECITAL SEONG-JIN CHO

Seong-Jin Cho

“The sound of a piano has something magical about it. No artificial intelligence will ever replace it,” said Seong-Jin Cho in an interview with the Berlin Philharmonic, where he was Artist in Residence in the 2024/25 season. Indeed, the piano recital by the Korean pianist, who won the International Chopin Competition in 2015 and began his illustrious career in 2017 as a last-minute replacement for Lang Lang, promises to be a highlight. In addition to Robert Schumann’s five-movement Faschingsschwank aus Wien (Carnival Jest),fitting the festival’s theme, Schoenberg’s first major twelve-tone work, and Bach’s Partita BWV 825, considered one of the most exquisite pieces in his oeuvre, Cho will present another piano magician in the second half of the concert: Frédéric Chopin. He dedicated his life to the waltz genre, creating a wide range of such short compositions, from virtuosic gems like the "Grandes Valses Brillantes" to popular strokes of genius like the so-called "Minute Waltz." Showpiece works for this internationally acclaimed exceptional musician!
