For decades, Mitsuko Uchida has been one of the leading international piano performers. Time and again, the »Grande Dame of subtle notes«, as BR-Klassik once described the musician, has been celebrated for her Schubert interpretations. Therefore, her recital at the Kulturpalast, which has proven itself a commendable location for top pianists appearing at the Musikfestspiele (such as Hélène Grimaud and Igor Levit last year), also features this composer. The Sonata in B-flat-major, regarded today as the pinnacle of Schubert’s piano writing, also marked the end of his creative life at the age of 31. Uchida makes no secret of the fact that the First Viennese School and German-Austrian piano literature are particularly dear to her heart: »Every day of my life that I am allowed to play Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and the music of our own time too… this, to me, is a gift from somewhere. If heaven existed, it's heaven.« Let Mitsuko Uchida and her special aura take you to heavenly spheres!
