A MUSICAL POET
PIANO RECITAL MAO FUJITA
Hailed by the press as the »ruler of the piano « (La Provence) and a »wonder of articulation« (NDR Kultur), at little more than 25 years of age, Mao Fujita is at home on the world’s great stages. Born in Tokyo in 1998, the Japanese pianist began playing the piano at the age of three. After studying music at the music academy of his native city, he then perfected his playing by studying with Kirill Gerstein in Berlin, where he lives today. Since 2019 at the latest, when he won the silver medal at the famous Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, he has celebrated one success after another with the great international orchestras and at numerous festivals. Fujita will prove his musical sensitivity and technical mastery in the 24 Préludes by Alexander Scriabin and Frédéric Chopin (his latest album) – two anthologies of miniatures full of vivid contrasts – at the Palais im Großen Garten, one of the Festival’s most romantic locations.
