Japanese pianist Hayato Sumino is a true multi-talent. He captivates audiences with his virtuosity on the world's great concert stages, holds a master in engineering degree, composes, arranges, and, is boasting over 1.3 million followers under the name "Cateen" on YouTube. His videos have been viewed over 176 million times and reach an audience that otherwise has no interest in classical music. His participation in the legendary 2021 Chopin Competition gained more media attention than ever before in the competition's history. With works by Bach and Chopin, his own compositions, and his magnificent arrangements of Gershwin's An American in Paris and Ravel's Boléro (for two pianos!), Hayato Sumino now makes his festival debut at the Stromwerk.
