JANINE JANSEN & CAMERATA SALZBURG

The Dutch violinist Janine Jansen is one of the most celebrated artists of her instrument, touching and enrapturing listeners worldwide with her passionate music-making and stupendous technical prowess. Now, the likeable virtuoso finally makes her debut at the Dresdner Musikfestspiele. Her musical partner is the Camerata Salzburg – in a collaboration both sides consider a unique stroke of good fortune. This spirit is sure to imbue their interpretation of the famous Violin Concerto in E-minor by Mendelssohn, whose melodically flowing beginning Jansen has described as »pure beauty«. With the »Reformation Symphony«, composed for the 300^th anniversary of the »Augsburg Confession«, the Camerata Salzburg then dedicates itself to another milestone by the same composer. The program is rounded out by the Orchestra Suite No. 2 by Bach, the baroque grandmaster whose rediscovery during the 19^th century was driven by Mendelssohn in no small part.
