MUSICAL SUMMIT MEETING
HAHN — VIENNA PHILHARMONIC — SOKHIEV

Only a few orchestras are as deeply intertwined with the history and tradition of European music as the Vienna Philharmonic. When this exceptional orchestra travels to Dresden together with conductor Tugan Sokhiev – recently lauded by the press as brilliant, serious, and highly musical – and the charismatic American star violinist Hilary Hahn as soloist, a truly dreamlike combination will be featured at the Kulturpalast. The musicians bring with two highlights of the Romantic repertoire: Dvořák's Violin Concerto, with its then-unusual direct use of the violin, thrilled audiences at its premiere in 1883 – a showpiece for the three-time Grammy Award winner Hahn. And what better way to end the evening than with excerpts from Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet, one of the most important ballets ever written, renowned for its captivating melodic richness?
