THE GRAND CHINESE NEW YEAR CONCERT

On February 6, 2027, the Year of the Fire Goat begins in China – a year defined by creativity, harmony, and inner strength. The Grand Chinese New Year Concert welcomes this special new beginning with a musical celebration brimming with color, energy, and millennia-old tradition. For over twenty years, this concert series has captivated audiences worldwide, establishing itself as a fixture on the international concert calendar. Audiences at the Kulturpalast can look forward to a stirring musical journey through China’s fascinating soundscapes. Leading traditional Chinese orchestras will present an energetic program showcasing the full diversity of Chinese instrumentation, where traditional masterpieces meet new compositions and contemporary arrangements. The spotlight falls on virtuoso solo performances featuring the erhu, the rhythmically brilliant pipa, the yangqin, the ruan, and many other authentic instruments. It promises to be an evening rich in color, rhythm, emotion, and impressive stage presence—rooted in a musical culture spanning more than 3,000 years, yet vibrant and alive in the here and now.
