SENSUAL SOUND ECSTACY

CAPUÇON — STAATSKAPELLE DRESDEN — GATTI

Gautier Capuçon
Staatskapelle Dresden
Daniele Gatti

The concert by the Staatskapelle Dresden under the direction of its chief conductor Daniele Gatti bridges sonic mysticism and reflections of the sea. The program combines German and French Romanticism and musicially reflects conrasts and similarities. Richard Wagner's music from Parsifal and Tristan und Isolde leads deep into the soul, to redemption and Liebestod, metaphysical stillness and ardent ecstasy. In between, two French works unfold their own sensuality: Camille Saint-Saëns' First Cello Concerto is a virtuosic and dramatic piece without orchestral digressions, while Claude Debussy's La Mer is an impressionistic panorama of nature, full of refractions of light and movement. The Cello Concerto will be performed by Gautier Capuçon – the Staatskapelle's Artist in Residence for the 2025/26 season and a master of the warm, lyrical tone.
