About the Project
»... for art is a daughter of freedom« (Friedrich Schiller)
In 2014, when the idea for »Bohème 2020« arose, the Dresden Music Festival’s motto was »Golden Twenties«. The 20ies of the past centuries were always a special source of artistic inspiration – Monteverdi, Bach, the late Beethoven and the young, yet mature Schubert created ground-breaking pieces and composed masterworks with particular vigour in the 20ies of the 17th, 18th, and 19th century, and these creations imparted new impulses to their times. The famous »Golden Twenties« also gave rise to such a flood of inspiration. But what is the source of inspiration of the 21st century?
Now, however, we have reached the 20ies of the 21st century; are we about to experience the dawn of a new creative era? What is the source of inspiration for the 21st century? Nature, perhaps? This question is central to a »Best-of« of the six past »Bohème 2020« seasons at the romantic theatre ruin St. Pauli.
The energy of creative exchange and the authenticity of expression that the artists and also the audience have encountered have made an impression and proven the great potential and power of this particular format.
Featuring artists of the past six seasons of »Bohème 2020«
