Jan Vogler
Recognized by the New York Times for his »lyrical intuition« the cellist has worked with the world’s most famous orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago, Boston, Pittsburgh, Montreal and Cincinnati Symphony Orchestras, the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna Symphony.
A passionate chamber musician he performs regularly with pianists Hélène Grimaud and Martin Stadtfeld and with violinist Mira Wang.
The 2012-2013 season features a return to the New York Philharmonic, debuts with the Bavarian State Orchestra, the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra as well as a concert with the Deutsche Symphony-Orchester Berlin under Kent Nagano.
In the 2011-12 season he appeared with the Mariinsky Orchestra and Valery Gergiev, the Munich Philharmonic and Lorin Maazel, Deutsche Symphony-Orchester Berlin and The Knights.
A prolific and multi-award-winning recording artist, Jan Vogler records exclusively for SONY Classical. CDs include Dvořák’s Cello Concerto, Shostakovich’s firscello concerto as well as »My Tunes«. In spring 2013 his recordings of J.S. Bach’s Cello Suites will be released.
Jan Vogler is General Director of the Dresden Music Festival and founder and Artistic Director of the Moritzburg Chamber Music Festival. He plays the 1707 Stradivarius »Ex Castelbarco/Fau« cello and 1721 Domenico Montagnana cello »Ex-Hekking«.
