Camerata Salzburg
Founded in 1952, the Camerata Salzburg’s history was shaped by outstanding artists such as Sándor Vegh, Sir Roger Norrington and Leonidas Kavakos. The members of the ensemble represent more than twenty nationalities and thus create a melting pot of different cultures.
The orchestra performed with a large number of internationally acclaimed artists: guests of the 2011/12 season include Thomas Zehetmair, Alexander Lonquich, András Schiff, René Jacobs, Hilary Hahn, Richard Tognetti, Julian Rachlin, Heinrich Schiff, Fazil Say, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Stefan Vladar, Peter Simonischek, Hans-Jörg Schellenberger and Yu Kosuge. Guest performances lead the Camerata to Romania, Russia, England, Italy, Switzerland, Turkey, Oman, Hungary and Germany. The ensemble is regularly invited to the Mozartwoche in Salzburg and the Salzburg Festival. The French Conductor Louis Langrée has been announced as chief conductor from the 2011/12 to the 2015/16 season.
