Founded by John-Edward Kelly and Elissa Cassini in 2005 the Arcos Orchestra mostly consists of graduates and students of the renowned New York Juilliard School and approaches orchestral pieces with sense of a chamber musician: each musician participates actively in the musical interpretation. All programs of the Arcos Orchestra include contemporary and older works.
Having performed many concerts in the USA, the orchestra made its first European tour in 2008 and appeared in Berlin, Dresden, Karslruhe and Switzerland with pianist Markus Schirmer and cellist Claudio Bohórquez as soloists. Following the tour, the ensemble recorded a CD for the NEOS label. In 2010 the orchestra made guest performances in Italy, France and Germany (among others in Berlin and Munich) with Sabine Meyer, Reinhold Friedrich and Susanne Grützmann as soloists.
