An der Dreikönigskirche 1a
01097 Dresden
This theatre is situated in the centre of Dresden. From 1779 until 1832 it was the first middle-class theatre association in Germany. In 1999 after the rebuilding of the derelict historical building, the Societaetstheater reopened as a civic chamber stage.
The special form of chamber theatre connects content and aesthetics in an outstanding way of stagework. The auditorium being close-by to the stage is basic for the intensive perception between the audience and the actors. On stage, the artist is alone or with a very little number of co-actors. Subjectivity, phantasy, creativity and simple, but impressive instuments help to substitute the technical charme of grand stages.
