The Schauburg was opened by the architect Martin Pietzsch on Oct. 15, 1927. It was the first independent movie theatre of Dresden.The cinema had only one theatre with 1000 seats. The Schauburg was not damaged in the second world war and was therefore the biggest cinema in the city after the war. In October 1993 the Schauburg was renovated and offers regular concerts, lectures and film festivals regulary.
