Magnus Lindberg: »Kraft«
Volkswagen’s »Gläserne Manufaktur« could not be more ideally suited to the performance of Magnus Lindberg’s »Kraft«. The spectacular work by the Finnish composer will be tailored specifically to the architecture, so that it can unfold its entire musical and theatrical effect through a symbiosis of sound and space. After all, it is not only the instrumentation that is extraordinary - including percussion instruments made from scrap metal, for example - but also the placement of the musicians within the space, going beyond the classical orchestral setting. Furthermore, the New York Philharmonic presents music from its homeland, with a work commissioned from Christopher Rouse and Leonard Bernstein’s Serenade. The soloist of this concert will be the celebrated American violinist Joshua Bell.
Concert duration: approx. 1 hour 45 minutes (including intermission)
The concert will be broadcasted live by medici.tv.
