El Perro Andaluz
Lennart Dohms [Conductor]
Works by Thomas Adès, George Benjamin, Henry Purcell,
Mark Anthony Turnage and others
In cooperation with the Music Academy Dresden and KlangNetz Dresden
Two names are inextricably linked with England’s influence on European music history: Henry Purcell and Benjamin Britten. They were both lauded as »Orpheus Britannicus« (after a song cycle of the same name by Purcell) and have served as a source of inspiration and point of reference for English composers to this day – and during the past 60 years, several of these composers have attained fame worldwide, exerting considerable influence on the course of contemporary music. George Benjamin, Thomas Adès and Mark Anthony Turnage are among the most interesting ones. In its concert, the Dresden-based ensemble El Perro Andaluz juxtaposes these young composers with the oeuvre of their »predecessors« - a colorful musical portrait of England past and present.
